New AI Reads Brain Scans Very Quickly
February 10, 2026 — Scientists at the University of Michigan made a new AI system. This system can read brain scans in just a few seconds.
What Does the AI Do?
The AI is called Prima. It looks at MRI pictures of brains. MRI is a special type of picture that shows inside your body.
Prima can find many different brain problems. It is correct about 97.5% of the time. That is very accurate.
Why Is This Important?
When someone has a stroke, they need help immediately. A stroke happens when blood cannot get to the brain. Every minute is important.
Prima can tell doctors: “This patient is an emergency!” Then doctors can help the patient faster.
The Problem Today
Many hospitals are very busy. Sometimes patients wait a long time for their results. In some places, people wait for days.
Prima can help solve this problem. It works much faster than humans.
What Happens Next?
The scientists will continue to improve Prima. They want to use it for other types of scans too, like X-rays.
